Ford F100 Custom

This project is a collaboration with Eddy Frechou. He recently modeled this beautiful custom Ford F100 from a concept of Damon Moran (https://www.damonmoran.com/), and it was a pleasure to take care of the lookdev/texturing/shading.

For this project I decided to play with NPR rendering and classic PBR rendering, the idea was not to replicate exactly the initial concept but an exploration of what other style could fit to it. I basically used a vector dot product to get a Lambert gradient that I multiplied to the albedo texture of the asset, and with the combination of ramps, got a more stylized effect.
I separately rendered a classic realistic PBR render of the asset, and then in Nuke comped only the specular, reflections and shadows on top of the NPR render. I quite like the effect it gives, and might revisit this style in the future.

This project was also a way to try Houdini Solaris as my lighting/rendering tool.
